Youth Grief Groups

Hospice Kawartha Lakes offers support groups for children and teens who are grieving the loss of a loved one. We offer an opportunity to express the meaning of the loss in a safe and caring environment as well to develop healthy ways of coping.

  • What should you do to stay busy when you are home alone
  • How to make a small snack and meal that is safe for you to eat

Omemee Library News
One Book, One Community
City of Kawartha Lakes Reads!

One Book, One Community invites everyone to "get on the same page" and read Kenneth Oppel's book "Silverwing".  This program will run from October 1 until November 30.  Everyone is encouraged to read "Silverwing" and take part in the many activities planned at library branches throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes.  When you have read "Silverwing" be sure to let the Library know so your name will be included in the weekly draw.  Brochures outlining all events are available at your local branch library.

Body Image Workshop - October 17, 2009

The CKL Body Image Coalition is hosting its second annual body image workshop for girls (8+), mothers, and mentors. This FREE event is

taking place on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at the Fenelon Falls Secondary School and will cover topics on self-esteem, body image, media messaging, and an expressive art workshop. For more details and to register before October 12th, please call Debbi Wilson at 705-324-3569.

Lindsay Kinsmen Band
  • Do you want to learn to play an instrument or do you already play ?
  • Lindsay Kinsmen Band is looking for you!
  • If you are interested in joining the Band, but do not want to play an instrument, we are also looking for "Colour Guard" to carry flags and banner
  • Lindsay Kinsmen Band has been "marching in tune with our community" since 1954 and we are looking for new members. If you are between 11 - 18 years of age and have an interest in music, Lindsay Kinsmen Band is for you.
  • Registration for the 2009 - 2010 season will be held September 10 and September 14, at LCVI from 7:00 - 8:00 pm
  • Cost is $400 per year and payment plans are available. Reduced rates are available for members of the "Colour Guard"
  • We also offer a free trial membership. You can try out the Band for the month of September for free with no obligation
