In recognition of the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Mental Health Week, elementary schools in Bracebridge took part in an initiative to spread kindness.
Led by the school’s mental health counsellor, Jocelyn Suddaby, students at Bracebridge Public School (BPS), Macaulay Public School (MPS), Monck Public School, and Muskoka Falls Public School (MFPS) were encouraged to participate in acts of kindness throughout the week. Each act was then recognized and written on a strip of paper and connected to an overall chain.
The chain started at MPS on Monday, MFPS on Tuesday, Monck on Wednesday, and then completed at BPS on Thursday.
In total, the chain contains 907 acts of kindness and links schools across the community in a movement celebrating “A Call to be Kind.”
